Conditions for ordering semen outside of the Netherlands

Frozen semen outside of The Netherlands is possible.

General Conditions: When ordering and receiving doses, the owner of the mare declares that they agree to the following conditions:

Order Requirements: When ordering doses, the following information must be provided to the stud farm:

  • Name, full address, email address, and telephone number of the owner/responsible party of the mare.
  • Full delivery address of the vet/stallion station if different from your own address.

Doses and Usage:

  • Each dose consists of 6 straws.
  • Stoeterij Ruijs does not sell individual straws/tubes, only in sets of 6 straws.
  • Once shipped, the use of doses is at the discretion and responsibility of the mare owner.

Payment Terms:

  • The price per dose for international sales is €500,- per dose, excluding shipping costs and VAT (9%).
  • The stud fee and shipping costs are paid in advance

Liability and Guarantees:

  • Semen is shipped at the mare owner’s expense and risk.
  • Stoeterij Ruijs is not liable for any costs resulting from damage, illness, EVA/CEM contamination, or injury to people, animals, or means of transport.
  • Stoeterij Ruijs does not provide a live foal guarantee for international sales due to selling per doses instead of pregnancy.
  • In case of loss of the foal during pregnancy, there is no compensation or re-breeding offered for international doses due to selling per doses instead of pregnancy.

These conditions are set to ensure the proper use of doses and to protect the interests of Stoeterij Ruijs and its customers. By placing an order, the mare owner agrees to abide by these terms.

 

Conditions 2024 for The Netherlands

    1. The breeding season for fresh semen runs from March 1 to August 15.

    2. When ordering and receiving semen, the owner of the mare declares that he agrees to the following conditions:

    3. When ordering semen, the following information must be provided to the stud farm:

        • Name of the mare with a copy of the studbook paper or passport.

        • Name, full address, email address and telephone number of the owner/responsible of the mare.

        • Full delivery address of the vet/stallion station if different from your own address

    4. Costs resulting from late registration to the studbook due to incomplete or late availability of mare data are borne by the mare owner.

    5. A maximum of 2 semen shipmens is available per estrus.

    6. Stoeterij Ruijs does not sell separate straws/tubes, only per pregnancy.

    7. The stallion owner reserves the right to refuse to breed with her stallion.

    8. In the absence or inability to provide Macklemore with fresh semen, it is possible to use frozen semen. The additional costs for the vet are then borne by the mare owner.

Payment terms

The stud fee for The Netherlands is € 650,- excluding studbook and transfer costs, jumping costs (€65 per jump), shipping costs (€ 39,50 per jump) and VAT (9%)
The stud fee is paid in advance, the additional costs are paid afterwards.

Reduction for barren mares

You must indicate before October 1, 2024 if your mare did not got pregnant for a 50% reduction on the stud fee paid in 2024 for breeding in 2025.

Live foal guarantee

    • Every mare is entitled to a live-born foal. This means a viable foal that has survived the first 24 hours after birth. If the foal dies within 24 hours, you can cover another season for free with the same mare x stallion combination (excluding jumping costs and shipping costs) for a maximum of 2 breeding years.

    • Stoeterij Ruijs is not liable for costs resulting from damage, illness or injury; this responsibility lies with the mare owner.

Loss during pregnancy

In case of loss of the foal during pregnancy, you can (after submitting a statement from your veterinarian) cover again in the next breeding season under the same price conditions (excluding any changing VAT, studbook and transfer costs, jumping costs and shipping costs) and with the same mare x stallion combination up to a maximum of 2 breeding years.

Order procedure

    • Stoeterij Ruijs accepts no liability for damage, illness, EVA/CEM contamination, injury to people, animals or means of transport.

    • We work with a mare station in Voorthuizen with specialized veterinary guidance. Here, follicle checks and insemination are performed.

    • If you do not wish to bring your mare to the station, we only ship to a veterinary practice or certified stud farm. Semen is shipped at the mare owner’s expense and risk.

    • Semen orders must be placed before 9:00 AM by telephone or email info@ruijs.nl and/or info@holstud.nl.

    • Use of semen is only permitted for the registered mare.

    • Mare owners have a reporting obligation; Unreported offspring may result in a fine of €1,500 (excl. VAT) per offspring.
